You'll work closely with our senior operations team in Berlin as a systems engineer to provide technical support and administration to the ever-growing number of machines running soundcloud.com.
Your key responsibilities at SoundCloud:
Participate in managing the infrastructure that runs soundcloud.com to help provide very high uptime and performance
Manage and lead network deployment and upgrade efforts of varying size and complexity
Participate in designing and building a wide variety of tools to help support the infrastructure
Provide a wide variety of failure and recovery analysis
Participate in on-call rotation
Knowledge and skills required:
4+ years professional network experience in a Unix/Linux, in large data center environments serving web app stacks
Experience with routing protocols, such as BGP and OSPF
Great shell programming skills
Strong knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6 Networks
Deep experience managing routers, switches and security appliances
Proven excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to handle fast paced, high-interrupt startup environment with ease
Valuable Additional Skills:
Experience with petabyte-scale storage systems
Experience with varnish, nginx, haproxy, memcache, MySQL
Specific experience with Brocade/Foundry network gear
Experience with Ruby and preferably at least one more language
Familiarity with agile programming methodologies
Experience with Amazon Web Services
Experience with CDNs and network caching technologies
Experience with monitoring systems like Munin, Nagios, New Relic, Hoptoad
Experience using Cassandra, MongoDB, Hadoop, Git, Chef
Exposure to the PCI-compliance process
